The first 100 days of school have become a big deal! My kindergartener was tasked with creating a 100 days of school shirt to celebrate the day and we racked our brain for a cool 100 days t shirtidea. I'm pretty pleased with what we came up with.

My son's kindergarten teacher has quite the party planned to celebrate the first 100 days of school. She sent home a memo a few weeks in advance of the big day to let us know that each student needed to create a shirt. The only instructions were that the t shirtneeded to be white and it should be decorated with 100 items. It was up to us to decide what we should do.

100 Days of School Shirt Idea

Like all good moms, I turned to Pinterest and Google to help me come up with some 100 days of school shirt ideas. I found some fun ideas, but nothing really resonated with my little guy. That is until we came upon a shirt that said, "I rocked the first day of school." My husband plays the electric guitar and my son loves to "rock out" with dad. He's also been taking piano lessons so music is a big part of his life. He immediately said he loved that idea for a shirt, but the only problem is that it was just the text, nothing else. So, I needed to figure out a way to spice it up.

I've made t-shirtsbefore using iron-on transfers so I knewI'd do that for thetext portion of the shirt, but I knew I needed something else to tie-in the music. I thought about adding music notes but couldn't find any small iron-on music notes that didn't cost a fortune. That's when I remembered that guitar picks can be relatively cheap!

I bought a vector image for the guitar and photoshopped it as needed, then created the graphic in PicMonkey. Depending on which brand of iron-on transfer paper you buy, you may need to reverse the image to create a mirror image so when you iron it on, it reads properly.

I've done it for you both ways, so just pick which version you need. Grab the regular version of the graphic HERE, and the reverse or mirror image of the graphic HERE. These are PDF files and will print on standard 8.5" x 11" iron-on transfer paper. I used the Avery brand iron-on transfer paper since I've used it many times with great results. While I was ordering on Amazon, I also picked up a cheap package of 100 guitar picks in various colors.

Just follow the directions of ironing your transfer on. Then, get out your trusted hot glue gun and start gluing while your iron-on cools off (then just peel the backing off to reveal your design).

Then, just start gluing your guitar picks onto the 100 days of school shirt. I didn't let me 5-year-old help me with the actual gluing, but he did instruct me where he wanted each pick to go.

This shirt turned out super cool. I know my grandson did something for their first 100 days but not a t-shirt. This would have been fun to do.
