All 8 Bunny Pokémon, Ranked (2024)

The world of Pokémon is filled to the brim with homages and literal carbon copies of real-world animals. Pikachu, arguably the most iconic mouse Pokémon, looks less like a mouse than a Rattata, but its iconic status brings it top ranking among mouse Pokémon. For as many bird and fish Pokémon in the nearly 900 Pokémon to date, there are only a select few bunny or rabbit Pokémon.

As of Generation 8, there are only 8 rabbit Pokémon. For a Pokémon to be deemed a bunny or rabbit, their Pokédex or Pokémon name needs to note the connection, which is why some Pokémon like Audino and Whismur are not considered rabbits, even if they look the part.

8 Azumarill Is Barely A Bunny

All 8 Bunny Pokémon, Ranked (1)

The most shocking Pokémon to appear in the rabbit category, Azumarill is known as the Aqua Rabbit Pokémon. Evolving from Johto’s water mouse Marill, also lovingly referred to as Pikablu, Azumarill is a Water/Fairy-type with a mid-range stat total of 420. While Azumarill is a fine enough fighter, its strength lies in being a tank with solid HP, Defense, and Special Defense stats.

Unlike the other Pokémon rabbits or bunnies, the only design element that actually points toward this characterization is its long ears. The rest of its line are mice, which fits Azumarill better.

7 Raboot Is A Teenager In Bunny Form

In the second stage of the Galarian fire starter, Raboot is equal parts teenager, bunny, and scene. Sharing its base stat total with Azumarill, Raboot’s highest stat is its speed, which ties into the soccer player aesthetic that the rest of its line evokes.

Raboot also has the distinction of being one of the most fully clothed Pokémon, having fur that resembles pants and a turtleneck sweater. The look may be inspired by common athletic wear, like tracksuits. Raboot is the only middle stage bunny Pokémon, as all others are part of two-stage lines or the third evolution like Azumarill.

6 Diggersby Is A Ground-Pounding Bunny

All 8 Bunny Pokémon, Ranked (3)

Diggersby is the final stage of the Pokémon XYearly route rodent Bunnelby. Being the only Normal/Ground-type in the franchise, Diggersby fills a strong niche in the games, and it can fight and lift incredibly heavy objects that weigh over a ton with its ears which double as a second set of paws.

This Pokémon is often seen in the ownership of construction workers in the games because of their ability to lift heavy objects. As its name suggests, it is also an excellent digger, being able to dig through dense bedrock.

5 Cinderace Is A Bunny That Shoots And Scores

All 8 Bunny Pokémon, Ranked (4)

The final evolution of the Galarian fire starter line, Cinderace embodies the merging of a bunny and a soccer star with a fiery kick. Cinderace is a fairly solid fighter with a base stat total of 530, having its speed and attack both just shy of 120 each. That means that it can outspeed and hit hard.

Being the fire starter, Cinderace also received its own special move in the form of Pyro Ball, which sees the bunny juggle a pebble on fire before kicking it into its opponents. Its much more humanoid look does detract from its bunny-ness.

4 Buneary Is An Ear-Punching Cutie

All 8 Bunny Pokémon, Ranked (5)

Introduced in the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl games, Buneary is a Normal-type bunny that uses its ears for defense. By rolling its ears up, it can deliver powerful blows to foes, and even grown-ups cry in pain according to one Pokédex entry.

Attaching itself to another piece of bunny lore, Buneary can launch themselves high into the air with their ears, marking them capable of high jumps. Its fluffy fur also helps it to sleep at night when it is cold, similar to how bunnies ball up.

3 Scorbunny Is A Snow-White Bunny With A Fiery Soul

All 8 Bunny Pokémon, Ranked (6)

Scorbunny is the fire starter of the Galarian region in the Pokémon Sword and Shield games. Introduced in 2019, this tiny fire bunny was an instant favorite of many players.

Scorbunny has all the telltale signs of a good bunny, including floppy ears, a puffy white tail, two front buck teeth, and big feet that are considered lucky. It also has pads on its nose and feet that generate heat, which is where its fire type comes into play. This starter makes Sword and Shield perfect for a bunny-only Nuzlocke run.

2 Bunnelby Is The Closest To A Real Bunny

All 8 Bunny Pokémon, Ranked (7)

Though Bunnelby is the weakest of all the bunny Pokémon, with a measly stat total of 237, nearly 100 points under Scorbunny, it has the distinction of being the most like a real-world bunny. If this Pokémon was seen in the real world, it wouldn’t necessarily turn heads as an Azumarill or Raboot would.

Also like bunnies in the real world, Bunnelby has sensitive hearing and can quickly burrow underground, even being able to dig thirty feet in a single night.

1 Lopunny Fits The Bunny Aesthetic While Being Powerful

All 8 Bunny Pokémon, Ranked (8)

One of the most endearing Pokémon to come out of the franchise, Lopunny is easily one of the most recognizable bunnies and is the strongest of them all. With a 580 base stat total, in its mega form, its lowest stats are its HP and Special Defense, which don’t matter that much when its high speed and attack can take out enemies quickly.

Lopunny is beloved by many for several reasons, but what makes it the best bunny is its commitment to what makes bunnies loved. They are cute, fluffy jumpers that also look cool at the same time.
