Head Coach Kelly Sheffield On the team overall:"I don't want tobe somebody that says you got to win a championship or it's a lost season.I don't want tobe in this profession if that's what it is and that's what our players arefeeling. We don't talk about that. We talk about trying to play our best, trying to get better,be the best we can be, max out all those types of things. And hopefully along the way you're with people that you enjoy being around. There's a lot to celebrate, there's a lot to be proud of. It's a bittersweet moment because I know they thoroughly enjoyed playing with each other and for each other, andthe fan base, andthe University. But, you know, that's sports and they have nothing to hang their heads about. It was a great year and we wish we had a few more days with them, but that's the way it goes."
SeniorMJ Hammill On the end of the season: "Forme, it's just so much gratitude. I look back and there really is no regrets, which is the way that I want tobe leaving the sport. I feel like the luckiest girl that I've gotten to surround myself with these people for the past four years. You know, not the way we wanted to end it, but gave it everything that we had."
Graduate student Izzy Ashburn On her favorite memory from this team: "I think even in the toughest moments, this team has looked around and we know we're exactly right where we want to be and it's something we talk about a lot. We talk about the hardest practices. We've been through the hardest lifts and conditions,we've always just looked around with so much joy and been exactly where we want tobe, whether we're sweating, crying, hitting the floor and bleeding. This group wants to work and we want to work together and it's hard to get us away from each other."
SeniorSarah Franklin On her favorite part of this season:"I think the biggest takeaway I have from this year is how much growth I've seen in every single person at the beginning of the season. We were a little bit of a different team and I think everyone's kind of stepped up a lot into their roles each and every one and so I think it's just really cool to see that growth across the board."

The Badgers had four turnovers on their first five possessions and the miscues kept multiplying. The Badgers had the ball wrestled away from them in the low post, threw passes away on the perimeter, and were simply blitzed by JMU's speed, aggression, and physicality which was similar to a Big Ten team.
The Wisconsin Badgers men's basketball team was hit hard by a string of transfer portal departures following a disappointing loss to James Madison University in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, like many division one teams in the current college basketball landscape.
The Badgers earned a bid into the NCAA tournament as a 5 seed and lost to Oregon in the first round. The Badgers would complete the 2019–20 season with a 21–10 record, with a 14-6 Big Ten record.
Prospectors came to the state looking for minerals. Without shelter in the winter, the miners had to 'live like badgers' in tunnels burrowed into hillsides. 100 Years of "On, Wisconsin!"
As any Wisconsin Badgers fan knows, UW only has two main rivals on the football field: the despicable Iowa Hawkeyes and the detestable Minnesota Golden Gophers. These three teams comprise the B1G West Triangle of Hate.
Madison had a longstanding rivalry with Patrick Henry.
Madison's friendship with Thomas Jefferson is considered one of the most fruitful political partnerships in American history, but he also had a lengthy and often bitter rivalry with the famed “Give me liberty, or give me death” orator Patrick Henry.
The 2007 Badgers earned the team's first number 1 ranking on the AP poll with a 26–2 record. Unfortunately, the team lost the next day to the unranked Michigan State Spartans 64–55. The Badgers entered the NCAA Tournament as a 2 seed but lost to UNLV in the second round.

The badger became the university's mascot in 1889, when the school used a live badger. The state of Wisconsin named the badger its official state animal in 1957. "The original badger mascot was too vicious to control," according to Wisconsin athletics' website.
The badger has had a series of names over the centuries. In a few areas it was called a "grey" - this being because it exhibits a generally grey appearance when viewed in a dim light. In other times it has been known as a "black and white", or even, one suspects in more modern times, as "stripey".
On June 1, 1812 President James Madison sent his war message to Congress. That message outlined what he believed to be America's chief diplomatic grievances with Britain: impressment, the British Orders in Council, and Britain's incitement of Indian warfare on America's western frontier.
From the early days of the Revolution through the struggles of the Constitutional Convention and the challenges of the Embargo Act and the War of 1812, Madison was involved in the most pressing issues confronting the new nation: the form and nature of the national government, the rights of citizens, religious freedom, ...
During the drafting of the Constitution, James Madison initially opposed including the Bill of Rights in the Constitution because he feared that rights such as citizen's rights that were not listed explicitly might be unprotected.
Calhoun, the "War Hawks," pressed the President for a more militant policy. The British impressment of American seamen and the seizure of cargoes impelled Madison to give in to the pressure. On June 1, 1812, he asked Congress to declare war.
