Modified Qualification Standards for the Positions of Head Teachers and Principals

  1. The Civil Service Commission (CSC), under Resolution No. 070520 dated March 19, 2007 has approved further modification to the Qualification Standards (QS) for Head Teachers and Principals in the elementary and secondary schools.
  2. The modified Qualification Standards for the positions of Head Teacher I to III and Principal I to IV (for elementary level); Head Teacher I to VI and Principal I to IV (for secondary level) of this Department shall take effect immediately.
  3. Subsequent appointees to said positions should meet the herein newly approved qualification standards, subject to the guidelines on selection and promotion of school heads, which include the passing of the Principalship test for aspirants to Principal I positions.
  4. All other existing issuances which are inconsistent herewith are deemed repealed or amended.

    • I think these positions have different path. Master Teachers are for teaching and Head teachers are for admin. So, I think the answer would be no.

  6. Hoping to get an answer to my query.

    Is it possible that a mere T1 may be promoted to ESP (Elem. School Principal) 1?
    I heard that there was a special case like this. If so, can anyone provide the proof on that said scenario. Thanks.

  7. Good eve….this is the senario…my last reclass for t3 was took effect march 2018…but i already submi my papers feb.2017…..and it happened that the research summit was april 2107…my question is can i use my certificate in research summit to my next reclassification? Thank and more power

  8. what if there is a vacancy of a Head Teacher I due to transfer, is it possible for a teacher 2 to fill the position tru pomotion or the position is intended for teacher 3? what deped order is the best basis?

  9. Teacher 3.. because MT is not inclined for administrative position but T3 can be promoted to Head Teacher position which cannot be done by an MT. MT can be possible for administrative if he/she passed the Principals’ Test

  11. Good evening po. Can a Related Subject teacher entitled to join the ranking for Head teacher position in the vocational department?If no do we have any deped order to prove that he/she is not qualified.
