This Wyoming mountain town has a pretty interesting dining scene, whether you’re looking for an après-ski snack and something plant-based or a fancy fine dining experience with breathtaking views of Grand Teton National Park. Wherever you eat, dress codes are pretty casual, and if you’re here during the summer and around holidays and school breaks, restaurants get crowded, so make reservations where you can.

CLASSIC ESTABLISHMENTS

Jackson Hole is the optimal place to eat a waffle at 10,450 feet above sea level. Take the aerial tram at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort up to the top of Rendezvous Mountain to find Corbet’s Cabin, decorated with skis on the exterior and a cozy cabin-like interior. You’ll find incredible views and waffles with toppings like Nutella, peanut butter and bacon, or brown sugar butter. Just be sure to check tram operating hours and seasons since it’s only open during the summer and winter seasons. And don’t miss the last tram each day or you’ll actually have to walk down the mountain (we’re serious).

If you’re craving meat, especially elk or bison, head to Gun Barrel where the menu includes a wide variety of local game and steakhouse standbys. They really lean into the hunting motif—the dining room has animal mounts, lots of guns dating back to the 1700s, and memorabilia like a buffalo-skin coat Hank Williams once wore on an album cover. Start your meal with bison carpaccio, and then get into entrees like ribeye, Cheyenne tenderloin, or the “dinner for two” featuring a 24-ounce wagyu tomahawk ribeye complete with shrimp and sides. If you really can’t decide, the mixed game grill that includes bison prime rib, venison bratwurst, and elk steak is a great way to sample a few different options.

Located in Grand Teton National Park, Dornans is a resort that’s known for having some of the best views in the valley. You can rent cabins, bikes, and boats, and you should absolutely check out the on-site restaurants. Hand Fire Pizza is located in the historic Teton Theater building, which was built in 1941 and reopened in 2017 after a huge renovation. Located on North Cache Street (head upstairs for the restaurant), Soluna is great for families, groups of friends, and anyone interested in a meal that’s a bit on the healthier side. Go with a tofu scramble breakfast burrito with pesto, a falafel wrap for lunch, or an Indonesian fried rice bowl with plenty of vegetables for dinner.

The Silver Dollar Bar & Grill is located inside the Wort Hotel, which has a rich history, including (but not limited to) gambling in the basem*nt “Snakepit,” where you needed a password to get in. Today, you won’t find any gambling, but there’s plenty of good food and entertainment. The Silver Dollar Bar and the Silver Dollar Grill are both in the hotel and have a similar menu, but each offers a totally different experience. The Bar (which features a showroom) has live music and dancing some nights, along with a menu of things like the Wort Famous corn chowder, bison and smoked garlic chili, burgers, elk gyros, and pulled pork poutine. The Grill is a bit more upscale with delicious options like beef filet, grilled pork tomahawk, vegan gnocchi pomodoro, and more.
