Luke 22:32 says, “But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” Jesus knew that Simon Peter would betray Him and also knew that he would repent. As a born-again Christian, your faith may fail but not fall off. Whatever happens, Jesus knows that you are a stakeholder in the Kingdom; you have a seat and He knows you are coming back to Him. If our faith is being kept up in an hour of temptation, though we may fall – yet we shall not be utterly cast down. This means that your faith may fail, but not totally, not finally.

THE BELIEF IN OUR HEART
The Book of Romans 10:9-10 says, “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord', and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” Our heart serves as a communication point between us and God. We believe with our heart, and faith releases that belief through our mouths. If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord” and there is no belief in your heart, you are just saying empty words. To have this belief in your heart, you must read, act, and obey God’s Word. The more you reflect and meditate on God’s Word, the more your spirit acts on it.

Reading God’s Word slowly allows you to stay focused and devoted to His full attention. To have this belief in our hearts, we must read the Bible slowly, attentively and repeatedly. Before you can read the Bible, you must first reflect inside – deep reflection. You must ensure that your heart is free, since only a free heart can communicate with God. If your heart is not free, it is imprisoned. That is, your heart is overburdened with sorrow, difficulties, problems, obstacles, and so on. Worrying about things that will overwhelm you rather than focusing on God’s will has an impact on the glory of God in your life. That free heart is the one that works with God, that communicates with God, that acts with God, that hears from God and that submits to God. Reading the Bible with devotion necessitates a free heart as well as a private and quiet environment.
There is power in our mouth; the belief in our heart is released by faith out of our mouth. When the Word of God takes residence and dominates your heart, it influences your actions and character. The more you read the Bible slowly, attentively, and repeatedly, the more you meditate about what you have read and the more your spirit acts upon the Word. The more you turn the Word of God over and over in your heart, the more it becomes part of you.
Finally, as Christians, let us make it a duty to read the Word of God because the Word of God can only become part of us when our heart is free and when we read God’s Word slowly, attentively, and repeatedly – with devotion. Say this prayer with me: Lord Jesus Christ, I let go of offense and grudges. Lord Jesus, free my heart to follow you; free my heart to receive from you, in Jesus’ name!
